Five Minutes of Worship on a Friday

This is part of Lisa-Jo Baker's Five Minute Friday.  A free-writing exercise each Friday with a one word prompt.  Read more and join in Here.

This week's word:  Worship

Truly thinking about this word gives me pause.  We get caught up in the idea of music, speaking, raised raised hands. Modern building, old steeple, how many pews, or should we have chairs. We can focus on the trivial aspects of this thing, this - worship.

It is about the heart, mind, soul, strength.  It is how we demonstrate our gratitude and love to the One who has saved us, given us Life and Light and Truth.  He knows our hearts, he so wants us to seek Him.  This is our act of worship.  Loving Him with all that we are, all that we do, and all we can hope to be in Him.

Worship is so much more than style of building, music, speaking.  It is so much more than we might even realize this side of heaven.

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.

Five Minute Friday

  1. So true! We do get caught up in what it's supposed to be, what it's supposed to look like. And we forget how precious organic worship is whether it's in a church pew or in the middle of the woods somewhere.

  2. I can agree with your perspective. So often we worry about the hows and the whys, and often we forget about Who. He is and always should be our focus.

  3. Amen! I feel a cringe coming on when people, even well-intentioned, limit worship to that little bit of music played on a Sunday morning. It is anything and everything we do to His glory!

It would be great to hear your thoughts!
